BLACKETT, Ethel Monique (nee Pothier) - Born in Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., N.S. on June 21, 1919, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2018 at Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie, Ontario with her family by her side in her 99th year. Ethel was born to the late John Dennis and Rosie Esther (nee Muise) Pothier. Ethel married the late Kenneth Blackett on Prince Edward Island. Ethel worked as a cashier in Toronto and then later ran a bed and breakfast in P.E.I.. Ethel loved to cook, bake, play piano & organ and sing at Senior Homes and square dances when living in P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. Ethel enjoyed crafts such as needle-work, knitting, painting, playing bingo, listening to country music and attending Catholic Mass services. Ethel is survived by children; John LeBlanc, Daniel (Susan) Parker and Lynn (Daniel) McCormack, her brother Lawrence (Nora) Pothier, sister Catherine Emilson, grandchildren; Wanita, Shelly, Lyle, Shane, Judy, Steven, Stephanie, Jaime, Danielle, Wesley, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel is preceded in death by her husbands; Kenneth and Lloyd, her sister Norma as an infant, her brothers; Gerald, Leo, Lellis, Norbert and Raymond, her daughter Carol, son-in-law Lester, daughter-in-law Marilyn, great-grandson Zachary and close companion Robert. In keeping with Ethel’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration Of Life held from 1-3 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #71, 130 Garrison Road, Fort Erie, Ontario. Ethel’s family wish to extend our sincere thanks to Dr.’s Henry and Scher, and all of the wonderful nurses and staff of Gilmore Lodge for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
