SCOTT, Ethel “Jean” – age 92 of Plymouth and formerly of Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on November 16, 2017 surrounded by family. Born in Yarmouth on December 3, 1924 she was a daughter to the late Amos “Hartley” and Clara Mildred (Tinkham) Pitman. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a devoted member of the Plymouth United Baptist Church where she played the organ for over 30 years. Upon the closing of Plymouth Church she became a welcome member of the Pleasant Lake United Baptist Church. She was also a long-time member of the Women’s Missionary Society. In her spare time Jean was an avid bowler, loved to knit, quilt, play cards and spend summers with her family and friends at the Camp in Brazil Lake. She was also known to be a devoted fan of her Toronto Blue Jays. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Tim) Patten, Plymouth; Louise (Austin) Surette, Plymouth; Sharon (Jim) Laverie, Forest Glen; sons, Michael (Mona) Scott, Plymouth; Robert (Dawn) Scott, Plymouth; sister, Norma (Larry) Goodwin, Argyle Sound; brother, Ross Pitman, Raynardton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren . Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd George Scott; daughter and son in law, Lois and Bob Devine; sister, Jessie Belle Johnson and great grandson, Coan Surette. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel. A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 1 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Donald Moses officiated. Interment followed in Plymouth Cemetery. A reception followed the burial at the Wedgeport Fire Hall on the Black Pond Road. In lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the Plymouth Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr Webster and the staff of 3 East and the emergency department at Yarmouth Regional Hospital for the kind and compassionate care shown to mom.
