Florence Atkinson

Atkinson, Florence Vera – 86, South Side, Shelburne County died December 1, 2017 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in South Side on June 7, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Seaton and Deborah (Ross) Nickerson. Florence was a member of the South Side United Baptist Church where she was involved in many of the church functions. She once worked for Sable Fish Packers and Connor Brothers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting and enjoyed family gatherings. She is survived by son, Royden (Flora), Doctor’s Cove; daughters, Pamela Atkinson, South Side, Mary “Sissy” (Maynard) Crowell, North East Point; brothers, Freddie (Dena), Newellton, Terry (Joyce), Wood’s Harbour, Gary (Natalie), Port Saxon, Robert (Nancy), West Pubnico, Joey (Kathryn), East Pubnico; sisters, Gertrude (Randall) Nickerson, South Side, Agnes (Jack) Symonds, South Side, Janie (Claudie) Brannen, Port LaTour; grandchildren, Rachel, Stephanie, Stacey; step grandchildren, Nancy, Anthony, Darryl; great grandchildren, Justin, Hayley, Brandon, Jacob, Jessica, Jaxson. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm “Sundown”; son, Alpheus; brothers, Alvin, Gordon, Howard, Rupert, Seaton, Lawrence, Jackie, Ralph; sisters, Norma, Leora “Honey”. Visitation was held 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral service took place 2:00p.m., Tuesday at the South Side United Baptist Church, Rev. Shaun Hatfield officiating. Burial was in the White Lily Cemetery, South Side.
