BABIN, George Anthony “Antoine” - age 100 of Villa St Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Sluice Point passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 27, 2018. Born March 28, 1918 at home in Sluice Point he was the son of the late Raymond Babin and Sylvie (Brown) Babin. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Beatrice (Amirault) Babin and his second wife, Marjorie Anne (Boudreau) Babin as well as his daughters Alice (Surette) Babin and Donna Babin and son Roderick Babin. He was predeceased by brothers Lawrence, Leo, George and sisters Gertrude, Hilda, Julia, and Marie. He was predeceased by daughter-in-law Marion Amirault, sons-in-law Delbert Muise, Art Stuart, George Brannen, Roland Surette and Lewis D’entremont. He is survived by his children Raymond Babin, Ella Muise, Earl (Marcella) Babin, Bertha Brannen (Jamie MacDonald), Walter (Gloria) Babin and Marilyn D’entremont and two step sons Larry and Kenny Amirault. Antoine worked at various occupations throughout his life to support his family of nine. He worked at Dominion Textiles, went fishing and mossing, sold apples and vehicles while always promoting Dodge all his life. His longest career was providing mail delivery to communities from Abram’s River to Morris Island where he became well known to multiple Acadian families. He was proud of his children, his fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. His wit and positive attitude will be missed by all who knew him. Antoine was a lifelong member of St-Joseph and Église Ste-Famille Catholic parishes. Funeral arrangements were under the care of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth with visitations on Sunday, December 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with celebratory Mass at Holy Family Church, Amirault’s Hill on Monday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Villa St Joseph-du-Lac in Dayton.
