Gerald Young — Yarmouth

YOUNG, Gerald Francis - 74, Yarmouth, NS, passed away at home on Monday, December 25, 2017. Born December 1, 1943 in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Johnston) Young. He worked as a fisherman for most of his life, working in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. After retirement, he spent many hours on his computer playing games and connecting with family members. He is survived by his common-law wife, Gloria Smith; brothers, Gerard, Ontario; Fred, Calgary; Frank & Butch, Alberta; sisters, Angie (Young) LeDrew, Cornerbrook NL; Maria (Young) LeDrew, Fredericton NB; Mary (Young) Bennett, Cornerbrook NL; daughters, Lori and Marie Young, Terri Ridgen, BC; son, Garth Perry, Shelburne, NS; grandchildren, Kelsey & Emma as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Rufus Young; a brother, Fred (Mahone Bay); grandparents, William & Martha Johnston. Visitation took place on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 7-9 p.m., with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 7:30, both at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where the funeral service was held on Saturday, December 30 at 2 p.m., Rev. A. D. “Bill” Newell officiated.
