Joan B. Reede

REEDE, B. Joan Yarmouth/Wood’s Harbour Joan B. Reede, age 79, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth and formerly of Wood’s Harbour, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 21, 1940, in Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Raymond Dennis and Daisy Viola (Whynot) Swift. Joan was retired, having most recently worked in homecare. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 61 Yarmouth and was a volunteer who helped with bookings and functions at the Wood’s Harbour Hall. Joan also loved playing bingo, socializing (especially her nightly teas at the Meadows) and taking drives and she used to love bowling when she was able. She is survived by her three sons whom she loved very deeply, Raymond (Tina), Yarmouth; Hartley (Heidi) Yarmouth; and Kirk (Sandra), East Pubnico; grandchildren, Chad, Mitchell, Natasha, Steven, Melissa and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Riley, Carson, Bailey. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her companion of many years, Arnold Goreham and her former husband, James B Reede. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, where the funeral service was held on Monday, August 12 at 2 p.m., Pastor Phil Williams officiated. Interment followed in Laurel Hill Cemetery, East Pubnico.
