John Chipman

CHIPMAN, John Owen – age 78, Lake George, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018 with his wife by his side. Born February 23, 1940 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Harold S. and Florence (Bain) Chipman. John was retired from insurance sales, having begun working with his father at Harold S. Chipman Insurance, which later became Chipman-Spears Insurance, then Yarmouth Insurance Co. In his spare time he enjoyed doing photography. He was a veteran of the Yarmouth Fire Department, Neptune Company and was also past president of the Bits and Boots Saddle Club, supporting the family’s love of horses. He loved spending time with his family and playing with the family dog, Tyson. He will be forever missed by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharron (Cann) Chipman, as well as by his children, Cara (Stephen) Jeffery, Yarmouth; Shonda Chipman, Medicine Hat, AB; Mark Chipman, Yarmouth; Jana (Jim) Urbanowski, Oromocto, NB; grandchildren, Carlie, Austin, Olivia, Sophie and Nicholas. Also surviving is his former wife, Margo Armstrong. Aside from his parents, John was predeceased by his twin sister, Carol “Jean” Chipman. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
