Robert Porter — Rockville

PORTER, Robert Arnold, Rockville NS, passed away peacefully, January 21, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Yarmouth, April 25, 1943 he was the son of the late Wentworth and Anna Goodwin Porter. Rob was a fisherman earlier in his working career, eventually becoming the owner and operator of Rockville Carriers Ltd. Rob loved to play cards with his buddies Phil, Roger, Roy, Neil and the gang, Shark fishing in the summer time with his grandchildren whom he adored and spending time outdoors. He is survived by his companion, Donna Cosman, Rockville; sons, Arnold (Patty), Raynardton; Troy (Kelly), Arcadia; Wentworth (Tracy), Deerfield; Donna’s children, Natalie, Janet, Jody, Chuck and Jason; mother of his children, Margaret Porter; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Cory; grandson, Matt; brother, Murray and infant brother, Richard. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, January 24th, 2017, 7:00-9:00pm from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was Thursday, January 25th, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church, Rev A.D. Bill Newell officiated. Interment followed in the Chebogue Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri County VON or the Chebogue Cemetery. The family would like to send a special thank you to the VON and Dr. Webster for their care and compassion shown to Rob.
