Roberta Swinimer — Yarmouth

SWINIMER, Roberta Ruth – age 85 of Argyle, Yarmouth County and later of New Beginnings, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2019, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Argyle on May 30, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ryland and Beulah Roberts, sister to Iva Beauprie, London, Ontario, and the late Myron and Bessie Roberts. Married to the late Scott Swinimer for nearly 50 years, she was active in the local Baptist churches, Women's Institute, Argyle Historical Society, bowling, square dancing, and loved to spend her summers at the family camp. She worked for many years in the insurance field and earned her Nova Scotia General Insurance licence. In her later years she enjoyed family visits, reading, jigsaw puzzles, sudoku and talking to her beloved cat Charlie. She is survived by sons, Karl (Sandra), Brazil, and Sidney (Julie), Tweed, Ontario; daughters, Susan (Josef) Hubbard, Eel Brook, Hope (the late Reid Patterson) Swinimer, Seaforth; grandchildren, George, Shauna, Heather, Leigh, Sara, April and Ali; great-grandchildren, Nikolai, Edward, Emma, Thomas, Jake, Nathan and Teaghan. As per Roberta’s wishes, she has been cremated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation with the family took place on Monday, March 25, from 7 – 9 PM at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A celebration of her life was held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 26, at the Argyle Historical Church (warm clothing advised).
