ELLIS, Ronald George “Ron” – age 91, Plymouth, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 14, 1927 in Wellington, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late George Clifford and Eva Rose (Hicks) Ellis. Ron was a veteran of the second World War, having served with the Canadian Technical Corps. A hard-working and honest man, he was the founder of Ellis Print, Yarmouth where he and his wife worked until they sold the business. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Yarmouth, a veteran of the Yarmouth Fire Dept. (Salvage Corps), a member of the Yarmouth Citizen’s Band and a volunteer with the Yarmouth Food Bank. Ron was an excellent badminton and tennis player and a model train railroader. Ron’s passion was the sea and had many boats, both sail and motor boats, many of which he designed and built himself – he was quite a sailor. Although he lived alone since the death of his wife, he always valued all who stopped by to visit him. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline (Doucet) Ellis as well as by a brother, Raymond (Mary) Ellis and a sister, Muriel (Eddie) Earle. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Thursday, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., Friday, October 12 both at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Wedgeport, Rev. A. D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Saint Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Wedgeport. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Salvation Army, the Tri-County branch of the VON or to Saint Michael’s Parish Cemetery.
