William (Pere Willie) George Pothier
POTHIER, William “Pere Willie” George William ‘Pere Willie’ George Pothier, age 77 of Wedgeport/Plymouth passed away January 5, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family and friends by his side. Born in Wedgeport he was a son to the late Louis and Margarite (Jacquard) Pothier. Willie was the kindest, gentlest man who always had a smile on his face. He absolutely loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Willie started his working career as a fisherman and then worked for Robinson’s Supplies and A.L LeBlanc, and finally Nova Welding to finish his working career. In his spare time Willie loved to camp, spend time with family and friends, listen to music and could be found drinking a Tim Hortons coffee or “two”. He also was very fond of animals, especially his dog Ellie. Willie’s legacy is gentle kindness and the love he showed to his family and friends. He was known to be a lifelong volunteer with the youth of Wedgeport through the Knights of Columbus in his earlier years and more recently with youth groups assisting pastor Keith Moore. He is survived by his daughters, Kelley (Paul) Muise, Hectanooga, Suzanne (Alain) Deveau, Fort McMurray AB; brothers, Anthony (Linda) Pothier, Wedgeport, Elie (Carole) Pothier, Wedgeport; sister, Jeanne Corporon, Wedgeport; grandchildren, Adam Deveau, Ryan Deveau, Lisa Murray, John Muise, Joseph Muise, who he loved to the moon and back, as well as 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Besides his parents Willie was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Anne “Mere” Pothier; sister, Florence Deveau; and brother, Delbert Pothier. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Visitation took place on Thursday, January 9 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral home Chapel. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10 at 11 a.m. also from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Wedgeport on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. Suzanne, Alain and family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on 3 South as well as Doctors Hynes, Green and Webster for their kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank Ryan Deveau, Alice Doucette, Dot Pinner, Pastor Keith Moore, Tracy and Marcel d’Entremont, Elie and Carole Pothier, Dennis and Debbie Doucette and Judy Boudreau for their loving help and emotional support during Willie’s stay at the hospital.
