CLARENVILLE, N.L. — Dear Editor,
We just returned home after spending some time in your wonderful province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our trip was sadly marked by the loss of our beloved dog, Ripley, on June 24.
Ripley became gravely ill while visiting Twillingate the previous week. As there was no veterinarian available in that area, we had to wait a few days before having him seen by a vet. This occurred at the Clarenville Vet Hospital.
We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who made all the arrangements for us to be seen by Dr. Sharif and his staff without much delay.
After consultations, we were told as expected, that there was nothing that could be done for him or us.
We then decided to have Ripley rest in peace and end his life without suffering.
The entire staff was incredible, from Dr. Sharif to the nurse who attended to our needs, they all showed great understanding, compassion and support throughout the entire ordeal.
They gave us time to deal with this difficult situation and showed empathy and respect.
A special thank you to the lady we met on our way to the camper.
She saw my wife crying and said: “You need a hug,” and provided this special touch of love and affection. Thank you!
These little touches of support make a big difference in people’s lives.
In conclusion, we still miss our little companion and friend but his departure has been a lot easier to accept with the support we received from the entire staff of the Clarenville Vet Hospital. The sympathy card we received by mail was also greatly appreciated.
