Cristiano Digiacinto scored three goals and added an assist as the Acadia Axemen pulled out a wild 8-5 victory over the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic university men's hockey Friday night in Charlottetown.

Acadia went ahead 5-1 after 20 minutes of play before UPEI came back to tie it at 5-all 5:43 into the third period. Mason McCarty snapped the deadlock when he scored with 5:21 remaining in the final frame.

Owen MacDonald, with two, Maurizio Colella and Johnny Corneil also scored for the Axemen. Filip Rydstrom replied with a pair of goals for the Panthers.

X-Men 4, Aigles Bleus 2: At Moncton, Blade Mann-Dixon made 27 saves as St. Francis Xavier earned a road win.

Reds 5, Tigers 1: At Fredericton, Matthew Boucher potted a pair of second-period goals to pace UNB past Dalhousie.

In AUS women's hockey:

Huskies 5, Tigers 4 (OT): At the Halifax Forum, Caleigh Meraw scored 46 seconds into overtime to lift Saint Mary's over Dalhousie.

Laura Harwood scored with nine second remaining in regulation to force extra time.

X-Women 2, Panthers 0: At Antigonish, Lydia Schurman and Patti-Anne Tracey each scored and Jamie Johnson turned aside 22 shots for the shutout as St. F.X. blanked UPEI.

BASKETBALL

Haley McDonald netted 19 points as the Acadia Axewomen blasted the UNB Reds 82-59 in AUS women's hoops action Friday night in Wolfville.

McDonald had three three-pointers to establish a new team record in a career. She now has 159 career treys.

Mikaela Dodig and Katie Daley each scored 13 points for UNB.

Panthers 69, X-Women 54: At Charlottetown, Jenna Mae Ellsworth tallied a game-high 22 points to pace UPEI past St. F.X.

Kimberly Kingsbury collected 17 points for the X-Women.

In AUS men's hoops:

Panthers 94, X-Men 69: At Charlottetown, Jamesley Jerome came off the bench to score 27 points in UPEI's home win over St. F.X.

Reds 91, Axemen 68: At Wolfville, Sterling Simpson scored 19 points in UNB's rout of Acadia.

VOLLEYBALL

Olivia Bell had 11 kills as Saint Mary's swept the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-0 Friday at the Homburg Centre.

Scores were: 25-16, 25-10, 25-21.

Elsewhere, Dalhousie defeated Moncton 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-21).
