Barrington Barons and Par-en-Bas Sharks wrap up high school hockey seasons at NSSAF D2 provincials

KINGSTON, N.S. — Two high school teams from the tri-county region – the Barrington Barons and Par-en-Bas Sharks – competed at NSSAF Division 2 high school hockey provincials but neither were able to advance to the championship final.

The Barrington Barons came pretty close, however, missing out on the chance to advance to the March 10 championship game following a 1-0 loss in a March 9 shootout with the West Kings Wolverines.

The two teams played three periods of scoreless hockey, followed by two overtime periods with no scoring by either team. In the shootout the Wolverines netted two goals with the Barons scored once.

In the round robin the Barons had a 4-3 win over Inverness; a 1-0 loss to Cole Harbour and a 4-1 win over the Par-en-Bas Sharks.

In their round robin the Sharks also had a 4-2 loss to Cole Harbour and an 8-2 win over Inverness.

The other March 9 semi-final game saw Cole Harbour edge out the D2 western regionals champs Central Kings Gators 1-0.

In Sunday’s championship Cole Harbour had a 3-0 win over the West Kings Wolverines.
