Baseball fans will be treated to a baseball provincial championship tournament this weekend at the Roger Grovestine Complex in Shelburne.
On August 22-24, the Shelburne County Cubs play host to the 2014 Nova Scotia Midget “AA” Baseball Championship. Six teams will be competing for the coveted banner and the opportunity to represent the province at Atlantics in PEI.
As the season comes to a close, the Cubs are leading the Bluenose League.
Coach Roddy Conrad says his team has a good chance making the championship game noting that they have a lot of strong returning players.
Conrad is hoping that lots of local baseball fans will turn out to cheer on the local team.
This weekend’s tournament is one of two provincial championships set for Shelburne this summer.
Next on the schedule on August 29-31, will be the Shelburne County Reds, who will be the host team for the 2014 Nova Scotia Bantam “AA” Baseball Championship.
This tournament will have five teams vying for the provincial banner and a spot at the Atlantics, hosted by nearby rival Yarmouth Gateways.
