The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry came up just short in their bid to win another national senior baseball title.

The Dry lost 3-2 to the host Chatham Ironmen in the championship game in Miramichi, N.B., on Sunday. Dartmouth nearly came back from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning but stranded runners on first and third to end the rally.

Chris Thibideau hit a home run for the Dry and Mike Reeves had a double. Jeff Reeves was the starter and gave Dartmouth four innings before yielding the mound to Jason Mosher.

Dillon Doucette hit a home run to lead the Ironmen and Sam Lund went six innings and gave up just three hits. Andrew Case came on in relief.

The Ironmen advanced to the final by beating British Columbia 3-2 in one semifinal and Dartmouth defeated Quebec 3-1 in the other.
