Yarmouth has three teams competing: the Western Riptide White teams in the atom and peewee divisions and a team in the midget division.

The local atom team plays round-robin games at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. The peewee team plays at 11:30 and 5:15 p.m. on Friday and 9:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. The midgets play at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Yarmouth’s midget team is a pullout team as the local minor hockey association was unable to secure enough players for a season team. Midget girls hockey has seen a decrease in numbers in western Nova Scotia. Whereas last year there were four teams, this year there is just one.

Overall, there are four atom, seven peewee, three bantam and two midget teams taking part in the tournament.

Opening ceremonies are Saturday at 2 p.m. with the medal games on Sunday. The Atom championship gold medal game is at 10 a.m., peewee’s at 11:30 a.m., bantam’s at 1 p.m. and the midget final is at 2:30 p.m.

Admission to the tournament is free.
