Clare-Digby wins gold, Yarmouth silver at Atom B Mariners Classic Tournament Feb. 22-24


YARMOUTH, N.S. —

The Clare-Ravens had a 6-0 shutout win in the championship game of Mariners Classic Tournament, played at the Mariners Centre Feb. 22-24.

The tournament host Pink Star Barro Atom B Mariners won the silver medal in the three-day event.

The Clare-Digby Atom B team won gold at the Mariners Classic Tournament held in Yarmouth Feb. 22-24. The team had a 6-0 win over the host team in the championship game.

The two teams had opened the tournament with a game on Feb. 22, with Clare-Digby winning 3-1.

Goal scorers for Clare-Digby in that game were Luke Dickie, Gordan Deal and Nicolas Doucet. Assists were contributed by Gordan Deal, Jackson Whalley and Sebastian Robichaud. Cohen Neil was in net for Clare for all games.

Scoring for Yarmouth was Crofton McAlpine, with assists by Tyler Sutherland and Brooke Travis.

In their game 2, the Atom B Mariners played the Chester Ravens, winning 3-0. Goal scorers were Jake Sanford, Crofton MacAlpine and Jesse Churchill. Assists were by Parker LeBlanc, Myles Ellis, Tyler Sutherland and Dana Hill.

In game 3, the Atom B Mariners played TASA, winning again 3-0. Goal scorers were Jake Sanford, Andre Hill and Parker LeBlanc. Assists were by Brody Goodwin, Lucas Cushing and Crofton McAlpine.

On Sunday, in game 4 crossover action, the Atom B Mariners played TASA, winning 7-1. Goal scorers were Parker LeBlanc (3), Dana Hill, Crofton McAlpine (2), and Andre Hill. Assists were contributed by Lucas Cushing, Brooke Travis, Andre Hill, Brody Goodwin, Dana Hill, and Jesse Churchill.

As for Clare’s results during the tournament, in game 2, they played South Shore winning 6-1. Goals came from Gavin Elderkin, Gordan Deal (2), Nathaniel Deveau (2), and Sebastian Robichaud. Assists were by Jacob Kim, and Nicolas Doucet.

In game 3, Clare-Digby played Western Valley, winning 12-0. Goals were scored by Gordan Deal (6), Sebastian Robichaud, Luke Dickie, Gavin Elderkin, Braden Nickerson (2), and Nathaniel Deveau. Assists were by Gavin Elderkin, Luke Dickie, Nicolas Doucet, Braden Nickerson, Dylan Melanson, Xavier LeBlanc, Jacob Kim, Sebastian Robichaud, and Cameron Belliveau.

On Sunday, in game 4 cross-over action, Clare-Digby had faced Western Valley, winning 3-2. Goal scorers for Clare-Digby were Luke Dickie, Gordan Deal and Nicolas Doucet. Assists were by Gordan Deal, Nicolas Doucet, Cameron Belliveau and Luke Dickie.

In the championship game, the Atom B Mariners and Clare-Digby met again, with the 6-0 shutout going to Clare. Goal scorers for Clare-Digby were Gordan Deal (2), Sebastian Robichaud, Cameron Belliveau, Nicolas Doucet and Braden Nickerson. Assists were from Luke Dickie Gavin Elderkin, Gordan Deal and Jacob Kim.
