YARMOUTH, N.S. – A JStrong Hockey Skills Camp, being offered free of charge, is being held at the Yarmouth Mariners Centre May 18, 19 and 20.

The camp is for children aged 10-12 and a maximum of 40 kids are being accepted. There are still spots available.

Providing the camp free of charge is another way the JStrong Fund is looking to give back to youth in the community says Tanya Maillet, a member of the JStrong committee. Last year the fund had sponsored the first 20 kids who signed up for minor baseball.

And as of last fall, the JStrong Fund had surpassed $10,000 in helping youth access sport in Yarmouth County through assistance with registrations and also sponsorships.

The JStrong Fund was set up in memory of Yarmouth teenager Jadon Robinson who died in a car accident at the age of 17.

The intent of this hockey camp is to come out and have fun. There will be off-ice and on-ice sessions, scrimmages and games.

The camp will be run by a volunteer group of young men who were good friends of Jadon’s and who played sports with him over the years. These volunteers have played competitive minor hockey rep, high school or junior hockey.

To register contact Kirby Maillet, an organizer of the camp, by phone or text at 902-749-6046.
