YARMOUTH, N.S. — Yarmouth County minor hockey game recaps submitted by teams.

Bantam C

The Yarmouth JStrong Bantam C Mariners finished the hockey season by placing 2nd and bringing home a silver medal in the Annapolis Valley Hockey League.

Facing the undefeated South Shore Lumberjacks, Yarmouth fell short with a score of 2-1 this past weekend. Scoring the lone goal was team captain Aiden Goodwin, assisted by assistant captain Landon Pothier. MVP of the game went to goalie Tyrone Brush.

It was an entertaining and fantastic game was played by all players.

Bantam A

On Friday, March 8, the Nova’s Finest Bantam A Mariners beat the West Hants Warriors by a score of 3-1 in game 1 of the best-of-three provincial play-downs. Scoring for the Mariners were Chase Perry, Chandler LeBlanc and Dylan Hatfield. Braden Hipson was in net for the win.

On Saturday March 9, the team travelled to Liverpool to play West Hants in the league Day of Champions. The game was tied 1-1 after regulation and a 5-minute overtime period. A shootout was needed and the Mariners lost in the 7th round of the shootout. Scoring during regulation for the Mariners was Luke MacLeay. The only Yarmouth player to score during the shootout was Lucas d’Entremont.

The 2 teams play again on Wednesday evening in Windsor for game 2 of the Provincial play-downs.

Peewee A

At the Western Nova Minor Hockey League Championship last Friday, the GPK Refrigeration PeeWee A Mariners came away with silver after a 7-5 loss to the Acadia Axemen.

Scoring for the Mariners were Keaton Muise, Ben Lyons, Drew Muise, Ashton Samms and Blake Newell.

Next up, the Mariners will be participating in the Joe Lamontagne March Break Tournament before competing in the Hockey NS PeeWee A Southern Conference Championship game at the Mariner’s Center during the last weekend in March.

Bantam A girls

The bantam girls Yarmouth Scotiabank Western Riptide White team had another playoff game this past weekend versus Metro East Inferno Gold at home.

Riptide won 2-0 with goals scored by Ocean Sears and Karli MacDonald, both unassisted. Sophie Thimot was in net for the game.

Peewee A girls

The Western Riptide White peewee A girls were on the road on Friday for a game against Metro East Inferno Gold and brought home a 3-0 win.

They played at home on Sunday against Metro West Force Blue and came away with an 8-3 win.
