YARMOUTH, N.S. – The bantam A girls Yarmouth Scotiabank Western Riptide White team won the Subway Cup Tournament in Pictou this past weekend.
In the round robin the Riptide won two of their three games. In their first game they defeated Colchester by a score of 6-0. Chloe Swaine scored a hat-trick while Karli MacDonald had two goals and an assist. Madison Cushing also had a goal with the other assists coming from France Boudreau, Adele Comeau and Jada MacKinnon.
The Riptide lost their second game to the Fundy Highland Selects 6-0.
In their third game against Metro East Inferno Red, the Riptide won 3-1. Karli MacDonald had a goal and two assists while Chloe Swaine had one goal and one assist. The third goal was scored by Emily Crosby with the other assists by Breanne Deveau and Courtney Fitzgerald.
The Riptide went on to play in the championship game where they faced the Fundy Highland Selects for a second time. The game ended in a 3-3 tie in regulation with Havanah Perry scoring two goals while Jada MacKinnon scored one goal, all unassisted.
The game proceeded to overtime where no goals were scored. The game was won by the Riptides in a shootout with goals scored by Carly Kini, Jada MacKinnon and the shootout winning goal by Emily Crosby.
Sophie Thimot was goalie for all games during the tournament.
