YARMOUTH, N.S. – Ryan Graves of Yarmouth scored his second career NHL goal with the Colorado Avalanche with a wrap around in a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 8.
The Avalanche didn’t win the game – the 7-4 victory went to the Jets – but Graves’ goal had brought the Avalanche to within one for a 4-3 score late in the second period.
With the wraparound Graves beat Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck at the net.

“That’s Ryan Graves, the big rookie defenseman down low,” shouted the announcer when Graves scored.
“What’s he doing there?” added the announcer about Graves being in the right place at the right time, to which the other announcer added, “He read it perfectly…This is so well played by Graves, it’s unreal.”
This was Graves’ second NHL goal in as many games. On Jan. 4, he had scored his first career NHL goal during a 6-1 win over the New York Rangers, which was the team that drafted Graves to the NHL in 2013.
Graves has been on the Avalanche roster filling in for an injured player. The Winnipeg game was his sixth NHL since making his debut on Dec. 27.
See Graves talk about the Jan. 8 game, his goal and on playing in the NHL in this postgame interview posted to Avalanche TV.
