YARMOUTH, N.S. – Yarmouth’s Ryan Graves scored his third NHL goal for the Colorado Avalanche during a Feb. 12 game versus the Toronto Maple Leafs.

His slap shot from the point cleared traffic, finding the upper half of the Toronto net.

While the announcers immediately credited Graves for the goal, it was then suggested it was tipped in by a teammate and Graves was given the assist. However, on goal review it was determined no one but Graves had touched the puck and he was re-awarded the goal.

According to a postgame wrap-up by the Colorado Avalanche, Graves, who saw 14:14 of ice time in the game, is now tied with Samuel Girard for fourth among Avalanche defensemen in goals scored this season. Graves’ three goals have come in 12 NHL game outings. His first NHL goal came Jan. 4 in a game versus the New York Rangers (the team that drafted him to the NHL). His second was scored on the wraparound in a Jan. 8 game versus the Winnipeg Jets.

Graves’ Feb. 12 goal against the Leafs late in the first period had tied the score 1-1.

The Colorado Avalanche lost the Feb. 12 game to the Leafs 5-2. Toronto scored three powerplay goals on the man advantage in a matter of one minute and 45 seconds in the second period.
