The Halifax Thunderbirds announced their roster on Monday for the upcoming National Lacrosse League season.

Cody Jamieson, Scott Campbell, Ryan Benesch and Graeme Hossack and Jake Withers are among the veterans on the Thunderbirds' 21-man roster for their inaugural season.

NLL entry draft picks Clarke Petterson, Trevor Smyth and Nonkon Thompson also made the roster.

“We had a really tough and competitive camp, ending with an amazing experience at the Scotiabank Centre on Friday night,” said head coach Mike Accursi.

“There were lots of tough decisions, but we feel the mix of guys on our roster will provide us with the best chance to win game in and game out.”

Also making the roster are forwards Chris Boushy, Mike Burke, Eric Fannell, Kyle Jackson, Stephen Keogh and Austin Shanks. Transition players are Colton Armstrong and Brad Gillies. Joining Hossack and Withers on defence are James Barclay, Cory Becker, Scott Campbell, Luc Magnan, Thompson and Smyth.

The goalies are Peter Dubenski and Warren Hill.

Clay Scanlon, Brandon Robinson and Johnny Jimerson are on the practice squad and placed Luke Van Schepen on the injured reserve list.

The Thunderbirds open their season against the New York Riptide on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Scotiabank Centre.

The NLL season opens on Friday with the Colorado Mammoth hosting the Saskatchewan Rush and the Vancouver Warriors at home against the Calgary Roughnecks.
