The Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School Vikings went undefeated in winning this past weekend’s Steve Brewer memorial basketball tournament at YCMHS.
They clinched the title by beating the Horton JV team 79-68 in the championship game. Yarmouth’s Emma Corporon – who was named tournament MVP – led all scorers in the final with 22 points. Teammates Ellie Hiltz had 20 points and Zoe Schwan had 17 in a contest that went back and forth. Player of the game for Yarmouth was Savannah Watkins and the hustle award went to Cassy Oakley.
The host Vikings opened the tournament on Friday with a 67-31 win over Shelburne 67-31. Emma Corporon led the winners with 13 points and Janaya Hiltz had 11. Rayanne Oakley was named YCMHS player of the game while Zoe Schwan got the hustle award.
In their second game, the Vikings defeated Central Kings 66-47. Emma Corporon again was the top scorer with 23 points while Janaya Hiltz had 11. Ellie Hiltz was YCMHS player of the game while Janaya Hiltz got the hustle award.
In the semifinals, YCMHS cruised past Middleton 52-30. Corporon had 16 points and Ellie Hiltz had 10. Player of the game was Jenna Ebbett and Zayna Eissa got the hustle award.
In other tournament scores, Horton JV defeated Middleton 64-31 and Central Kings got by Shelburne 51-35. Horton JV defeated Central Kings 62-42 and Shelburne got by Middleton 62-45.
The Vikings will put their 11-1 record on the line in their next league games at home against Horton this Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Sunday game at 12 noon vs the Park View Panthers.
