The shooters went cold Saturday in Moncton in another loss for the Halifax Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes hit for just 31.5 per cent from the field in a 96-84 setback against the Magic at the Avenir Centre. The result means Halifax has now lost three of its first four games of the National Basketball League of Canada season.
The Hurricanes only trailed by one at halftime (38-37) but the Magic outscored them 58-47 in the second half to pull away.
Jeremiah Mordi led the Magic with 19 points, Maurice Jones Sr. came off the bench for 18 and Ronald Delph scored 16 and grabbed 13 rebounds. Marcus Lewis (13 points) and Billy White (11) also hit double digits for the Magic, who remain undefeated.
Halifax's Antoine Mason was the game's top scorer with 23 points and Marvell Waithe had 17. Tremayne Johnson grabbed 11 boards.
The Hurricanes return home on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game against the St. John's Edge. The teams played last Sunday at the Scotiabank Centre, with the Hurricanes putting on a nice charge in the fourth quarter for their only victory of the year so far.
