École secondaire de Par-en-Bas’s senior girls volleyball team took top honours at the NSSAF division 2 volleyball provincials this past weekend in Port Hawkesbury.
They captured the banner by defeating the Millwood Knights in the championship match.
ESPB went undefeated in pool play, finishing first by beating École secondaire du Sommet, École secondaire de Clare and Richmond.
They faced Digby in the crossovers and won two hard-fought sets 25-20, 29-27 to earn them a spot in the final, where they faced Millwood. PEB defeated them in two sets 25-16, 26-24, to win the championship banner and gold medals.
The Par-en-Bas team is coached by Phil Cottreau and Katrina Surette and the trainer is Ricky Muise.
The Digby Mariners placed second in their pool by beating Straight Area Education Recreation Centre and South Colechester Academy but fell to Millwood. Digby then lost to Par-en-Bas in the crossovers and École secondaire du Sommet Cougars in the bronze-medal game to finish fourth overall in the eight-team tournament.
Clare placed fourth in their pool, losing to ESPB, Sommet and Richmond.
