Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School’s varsity boys basketball team played league games on Monday, Jan. 20, and Wednesday, Jan. 22, and won them both, defeating Park View and Central Kings, respectively.

The YCMHS girls also were in action against Park View, losing on the road.

But first a look at the Yarmouth boys, starting with a home game Monday against the Panthers in which the Vikings were 66-44 winners.

High scorers for Yarmouth were Noah Wilcox with 21 points, Josh Muise with 16 and Randal Fells with 12.

Two days later – on Jan. 22 – the Vikings were on the road playing Central Kings and Yarmouth won again, this time by a score of 98-56.

Top scorers for YCMHS in this one were Noah Wilcox with 34 points, Randal Fells with 15 and Jeremy Charles with 14.

Future league games for the Viking boys are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Horton; Saturday, Feb. 8, at home against Central Kings (1 p.m. start); and Thursday, Feb. 13, at Avon View.

Meanwhile, the YCMHS girls faced Park View Jan. 21, but for them it was a road game, which they lost 54-26. Emma Corporon had 10 points for Yarmouth, which was missing some players who had gotten hurt in a Jan. 15 game against Avon View.

The Vikings were on the short end of a 70-63 decision in the Avon View game – another road game for Yarmouth – with Emma Corporon (26 points) Janaya Hiltz (14 points) and Ellie Hiltz (10 points) leading the Yarmouth offence. Three Viking players didn’t finish the contest due to injuries.

On Jan. 13, the Yarmouth girls fell to Northeast Kings Education Centre 62-44. Emma Corporon had 17 points in this one and Ellie Hiltz had 15. Despite the loss, it was an improvement over the Vikings’ previous game against NKEC – top-ranked Division 2 team in the province – which NKEC had won by 35 points.

Next up for the YCMHS girls is a tournament in Lockeport Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
