The Maple Grove Panthers defeated the Shelburne Rebels 38-20 Tuesday in the season opener of the local junior high school girls basketball season.
Janaya Hiltz had a triple double for Maple Grove with 14 points, 10 steals and 11 rebounds and Sarah Lyons had 11 points and six rebounds.
Zayna Eissa got the game’s Hardhat hard-work award for Maple Grove in addition to scoring two for two from the floor and one for one from the line.
Maple Grove’s next games are at their home tournament this Friday (Nov. 16) at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., with Saturday games at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. All are welcome.
