Cape Breton Eagles downed by Rimouski in first loss of the season

RIMOUSKI, Que. — The Cape Breton Eagles suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday night, dropping a 9-2 final to the Rimouski Océanic in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play at Colisée Financière Sun Life.

Cédric Paré and Dmitry Zavgorodniy scored two goals and added two assists apiece for the host Rimouski club (4-0-0-1). Alexis Lafrenière scored and chipped in three helpers.

Cole Cormier, Adam Raska, Isaac Belliveau and Ludovic Soucy rounded out the attack for the Océanic. Rimouski broke the game open with four goals in the second period in front of 3,916 fans.

Félix Lafrance on the power play and Egor Sokolov scored for Cape Breton (4-1-0-0).

In goal, Colten Ellis of River Denys made 30 saves in the win, while William Grimard stopped 45 shots in the loss.

Cape Breton continues its road trip on Friday against the Drakkar in Baie-Comeau, Que.
