School closures due to the storm have affected the Yarmouth-area sports scene, where a couple of basketball tournaments that were to have been held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5 and 6, have been called off.
One of the tournaments was to have taken place at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School, where the Vikings were set to host the Steve Brewer memorial tournament for boys. (The Brewer tournament for girls was held at YCMHS in December.)
At Maple Grove Education Centre in Hebron, a junior high school girls basketball tournament had been scheduled for Jan. 5 and 6 but also was called off.
