Vikings go 4-0 in Grant Potter memorial event, Skyler Baxter named tournament MVP

The Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School Vikings went four for four en route to winning the Grant Potter memorial basketball tournament in Annapolis on the Jan. 20 weekend.

The YCMHS boys posted wins over the Horton JV team, West Kings, Forest Heights and Annapolis West.

Yarmouth’s Skyler Baxter was the tournament’s most valuable player.

A summary of the Vikings’ tournament games:

Yarmouth 58 – Horton JV 54

Top scorers for Yarmouth: Matt MacPherson (14 points), Dylan Smith (13), Conner Trask (7). Game MVP: Randall Fells.

Yarmouth 82 – West Kings 53

Dylan Smith (24 points), Matt MacPherson (23), Skyler Baxter (17). MVP:  Dylan Smith.

Yarmouth 91 – Forest Heights 74

Skyler Baxter (25 points), Dylan Smith (12). MVP: Baxter.

Yarmouth 95 – Annapolis West 80

Skyler Baxter (40 points), Matt MacPherson (13), Dylan Smith (12). MVP: Conner Trask.

A few days prior to the tournament -- on Tuesday, Jan. 16 -- the Vikings dropped a home game to Horton 78-45.

The Yarmouth team was scheduled to play at Horton Tuesday, Jan. 23.

The Vikings are slated to play host to Park View Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m.
