Midget A: Mariners drop two
The Yarmouth Midget A Captains Choice Trucking Mariners played two games last weekend, including their home opener.
This is the first year in some time that Yarmouth has iced a midget competitive team. With combined efforts from both the Yarmouth and Shelburne minor hockey associations a team has been iced and is part of the Western Nova Minor Hockey League.
The Mariners’ first game was against West Hants in West Hants. It was a tough fought game with West Hants winning 13-3.
The Mariners faced over 50 shots. Scoring for Yarmouth was Donavan Mullen with two goals and one assist. Also adding to the score sheet was Ryland d’Entremont with a goal and one assist. Tanner Christie also had an assist. Liam Campbell was in the net for the loss.
The second game was a home game versus the league-leading South Shore Sharks. After holding the sharks to only one goal in the first period, the sharks exploded in the second period for three goals and added two more in the third. Liam Campbell faced another large amount of shots with 53. The final score was 6-0 South Shore.
Bantam A: Tie and a loss
The West Pubnico Pharmasave Bantam A Mariners played to a 1-1 tie with Acadia in league action at the Mariners Centre on Oct. 21. Scoring was JJ MacPhee (Tanner Nickerson, Connor Prouty). In nets was Austin Surette
The Mainers had a 6-3 league loss to West Hants on Oct. 22. Scoring were JJ MacPhee, Tanner Nickerson and Jaden Kerr. Assists went to Ethan Saulnier and Tanner Nickerson. In nets was Emma Swansburg.
Female hockey: Peewee girls tie twice
The Yarmouth Scotiabank Western Riptide White Peewee A Girls played two home games versus Metro West Force Red.
The first game ended in a 3-3 tie. Goal scorers were Marissa Fevens, Isabelle d'Entremont and Ocean Sears. Jorgia Malone, France Boudreau, Madison Cushing, Jorden Nickerson, Marissa Fevens and Carly Kini each had an assist.
The second game ended in a 2-2 tie. Isabelle d'Entremont scored a goal and had an assist. Carly Kini also had a goal. Jorgia Malone had an assist.
Chloe Surette was in net for both games.
Peewee B: Yarmouth defeats Shelburne
The TimberMart Peewee B Mariners defeated the Shelburne Flames 8-3 on Oct. 21.
Brady Saulnier faced 24 shots in net. Scoring for Yarmouth was AJ Deveau (Lucas Cottreau). Isaac Tunnicliff scored four times with assists from Lucas Cottreau, Toby d'Entremont, Isaac Richardson, Alyre Richardson (2) and Dominic Jacquard (2). Also scoring were Noel Babin (AJ Deveau, Dominic Jacquard), Alyre Richardson (Dominic Jacquard), Isaac Richardson (Maddox d'Entremont, Landon Watkins).
Scoring for the Flames were Ethan Marriott with two goals, one unassisted and the other assisted by Tyler Cameron. Also scoring unassisted was Dylan Nickerson.
Peewee B: Yarmouth splits games with Acadia
The TimberMart Peewee B Mariners On Oct. 22 the TimberMart Mariners faced the Acadia Axemen in a double header. The Mariners won the first game 3-2. Scoring were Landon Watkins (Isaac Richardson, Ben Lyons), Lucas Cottreau (AJ Deveau, Nolan Saulnier) and Isaac Tunnicliff (Alyre Richardson, Dominic Jacquard).
In the second game the Mariners had a 7-3 loss. Scoring were Landon Watkins (Ben Lyons, Maddox d'Entremont), Isaac Tunnicliff (Nolan Cottreau, Isaac Richardson) and Nolan Saulnier unassisted. Brady Saulnier faced a total of 88 shots in two games.
Atom A: Two losses on weekend
The Yarmouth JStrong Atom A Mariners played two home games.
They lost the first game to South Shore 12-5. Scoring for Yarmouth were Marcel Jacquard with assists from Declan Fitzgerald and Ryder Pinksen; Colby d'Eon withan assist from Gabriel Hideib; Jack d'Entremont with assists from Colby d'Eon and Max Gates; Karter Bain with assists from Jack d'Entremont and Cayden d'Eon and Ryder Pinksen with an assist from Sawyer Kristensen. Benoit Seeley was in net.
The Mariners lost the second game 5-1 to Acadia. Scoring for Yarmouth was Sawyer Kristensen assisted by Bryce Fitzgerald and Parker LeBlanc. Lukas Nickerson was in net.
