YARMOUTH. NS – Yarmouth County Minor Hockey recaps.
Bantam AA
The Wade’s Wire Traps Yarmouth Bantam AA Mariners were on the road Jan. 6 to play the South Shore Lumberjacks. Yarmouth won the game 3-2.
Goal scorers were Owen Penney, Jory Stewart and Spencer Surette. Assists went to Spencer Surette, Orren Hatfield, Michel Comeau and Owen Penney.
Jacob Atwood was in net for the win.
The Wade’s Wire Traps are on the road this weekend for two games in Pictou.
The previous weekend the Mariners were on the road. During exhibition play against the Sackville Flyers Yarmouth lost 3-2.
In Amherst later that day, Yarmouth was victorious in defeating the Cumberland Ramblers 6-1. Goal scorers were Dalton Sears and Owen Penney, each with 2, while Michel Comeau and Alex Barr each had one. Assists went to Cameron Brown with 2, with Owen Penney, Ryder Travis, and Owen Fitzgerald each with one. Izaac Deveau was in net for the win.
The next day Izaac Deveau recorded a shutout for Yarmouth in an 11-0 victory. Goals were scored by Jaden Kerr, Jory Stewart, Owen Penney, and Dalton Sears, who each scored twice, while Ben LeBlanc, Michel Comeau, and Alex Barr each had one goal. Assists went to Michel Comeau and Orren Hatfield each with 3, Jaden Kerr with 2, and singles went to Jory Stewart, Owen Penney, Cameron Brown, Alex Barr, Owen Fitzgerald and Ben LeBlanc.
Peewee B
The Charlesville Fisheries Peewee B Mariners traveled to Liverpool on Jan. 5 for a league game against the Queens County Cougars and defeated the Cougars 9-1.
In net for the Mariners was Miguel Surette. Scoring for the Mariners were Liam Surette and Charlie Gosling, each with two goals, Dominick Hazelton, Jack d’Entremont, Brody Smith, Caleum Hines and Gabriel Hideib, all with one each. The assists for the game went to Caleum Hines, Brody Smith, Gabriel Hideib and Blake Fish.
Atom B
Yarmouth Pink Star Barro Atom B Mariners played Saturday with a win. Scorers Parker LeBlanc, Andre Hill, Crofton MacAlpine, and Jesse Churchill. Assists by Crofton MacAlpine, Mateo d'Entremont, Andre Hill, Jesse Churchill, Lucas Cushing and Jake Sanford. Final score 6 Mariners 1 Queens County Cougars.
Zander White was in net for the win.
Peewee A
The GPK Refrigeration Peewee A Mariners came away with two wins this past weekend, defeating the Acadia Axemen 4-1 on Jan. 5 and the Clare-Digby Ravens 3-1 on Jan. 6.
The 4-1 home win against Acadia was led by Blake Newell scoring two goals, with Lucas Cottreay and Drew Muise adding one goal each. Assists came from Lucien Doucette, Connor Pothier, Lucas Cottreau and Blake Newell.
The 3-1 road win against Clare-Digby saw goals from Alyre Richardson, Blake Newell and Connor Pothier. Connor Pothier, Lucas Cottreau and Blake Newell were awarded assists.
Brady Saulnier was in net for both wins.
The previous weekend the Mariners defeating the South Shore Lumberjacks 6-3 and fell to the Clare-Digby Ravens 3-2.
In the 6-3 win, Damien Cottreau scored a hat-trick, with additional goals added by Boston Aldred, Lucas Cottreau and Drew Muise. Drew Muise has three assists while Ben Lyons, Ashton Samms, Blake Newell, Bryce Fitzgerald and Alyre Richardson helped with one assist each.
The 3-2 loss saw goals from Blake Newell and Boston Aldred, with assists coming from Ben Lyons, Lucas Cottreau, Damien Cottreau and Lucien Doucette.
Peewee AAA
The Chris Scott Construction Mariners picked up a pair of wins heading into the Christmas break during Peewee AAA exhibition hockey action.
Yarmouth edged the visiting Acadia Axemen 6-5 in the first game of a doubleheader. Max Darcy scored the winning goal with only 2:13 remaining on the clock, as the Mariners held on to preserve the victory. Sam Hope fired a hattrick, with Dakota Ryer and Sawyer Longmire a goal each. Jordan Apostolofski and Dominic Jacquard added a pair of assists.
It was all Yarmouth in the second game, as the locals hammered Acadia 8-3. Sam Hope paced the offense with 4 goals, Jared Pitman had a pair, while Sawyer Longmire and Sammy Cochrane added one each. Jessica Mackinnon had 3 assists, Dylan D'Entremont and Jordan Apostolofski a pair each, with Nolan Cottreau, Koen Shand, Cameron Barnes and Dawson O'Connell one each. Affiliate Noah Muise picked up the win between the pipes making 11 saves on 12 shots, before being relieved by Cohen Stoddard as they shared the netminding duties.
Midget C
The Graham Construction Ltd Midget C (Reigh's) had a recent 9-1 loss versus South Shore in a league game. Scoring for Reigh's was Dominic Higby, unassisted.
Atom B
The Yarmouth Pink Star Barro Atom B Mariners had a 6-1 win over Chester on Dec. 22. Goals were scored by Crofton MacAlpine, Parker LeBlanc, Dana Hill and Andre Hill. Assists were from Mateo d'Entremont, Andre Hill, Carl Landry, Crofton MacAlpine and Jake Sanford. Zander White was in net.
The Mariners were edged out 6-5 by the Western Valley Spartans on Dec. 23. Goals were scored by Andre Hill, Zander Garron, Crofton MacAlpine, and Parker LeBlanc. Assists came from Andre Hill, Zander Garron, Crofton MacAlpine, Parker LeBlanc, Myles Ellis, Carl Landry and Jake Sanford. Zander White was in net.
Peewee A

Top points earned for the weekend went to Blake Newell with 8 points, Lucas Cottreau with 6 points, Damien Cottreau with 5 points and Alyre Richardson and Drew Muise with 4 points each.
Brady Saulnier was in net for both games.
