Yarmouth County players help N.S. novice team win gold in Maine

Five Yarmouth County players were members of the Nova Scotia Novice Young Guns hockey team that won gold at a tournament in Portland, Maine.

The local players on the team were Chase d’Entremont of Plymouth, Philip Richard from Carleton, Nate d’Entremont of Pubnico, Zander Churchill of Yarmouth and Brex d’Eon from Pubnico.

The rest of the team was mostly from HRM and Pictou County.

The Nova Scotia team played five games in the Portland tournament and faced the New Brunswick Young Guns in the championship game, defeating them 4-0 to win gold.

It was the first time that a Nova Scotia novice team brings home gold.

As for individual honours, Philip Richard – one of the Yarmouth County players – received player-of-the-game honours for one tournament games.
