The RCMP said on Thursday morning, Jan. 24, that a section of Highway 101 between exits 11 and 14 was closed due to multiple collisions this morning caused by slippery road conditions.

This is a section of highway between the Kentville/Colbrook and Wolfville exits.

Starting at approximately 7:30 a.m. Kings District RCMP had responded to several motor vehicle collisions on Highway 101 between exits 11 and 14. The highway has since been closed in both directions. Traffic was being re-routed onto Route 1.

New Minas Fire Department, Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and EHS are assisting at the scene.

The preliminary investigation had determined that approximately seven different collisions occurred. There have been some injuries reported as well as damaged vehicles.

Motorists are reminded to slow down during icy winter conditions. The RCMP issued a media release around 9:45 a.m. saying the highway was expected to remain closed for one more hour.
