The Brent MacDougall rink of Mayflower won the Nova Scotia mixed curling championship Monday evening in Yarmouth, defeating the Kevin Saccary team of Dartmouth 10-3.
It was the third game of the day between the two Metro teams.
The Saccary rink posted an 8-1 win over the MacDougall team in the morning and could have won the title by defeating the same team in an afternoon game, but the MacDougall team was an 8-7 winner in that one, so the teams went at it again in th evening.
The Yarmouth team skipped by Aaron Sweeney was eliminated from title contention after losing 8-5 to the Saccary team, the Sweeney team’s third loss of the tournament.
The Sweeney rink opened the championships Friday by defeating the Ian Dugas team 7-6, then fell to the MacDougall team 9-3.
In its other games, the Sweeney team defeated Elwin Smith 9-6 and Kevin Roach 7-6, lost to MacDougall 5-2 and defeated Anthony Purcell 11-5.
