The Yarmouth Mariners have found themselves in another 3-1 series deficit, after losing Games 3 and 4 by one goal each at home in the Kent Cup Final. The score of Tuesday's game was 2-1 in Woodstock's favour.

This came one night after a 1-0 win for Woodstock in Game 3, in which both teams had 31 shots on net.

Unless Friday the 13th turns out to be unlucky for Woodstock, the Slammers will have the chance to win the league championship on their home turf this Friday.

If Friday the 13th turns out lucky for the Mariners, Game 6 is due to be back in Yarmouth on Monday night, April 16.

In the Bent Division Final series, Yarmouth rebounded after a 3-1 series deficit to come back and win the series in Game 7 over Amherst, although in this league championship series Yarmouth is facing a Woodstock team that has a season and playoff record of 56 wins and 7 losses.

But the Mariners are not heading into Game 5 thinking they have to win three games in a row. Instead, says head coach Laurie Barron, they are approaching the remainder of this series one game at a time. One win at a time, which worked for the team in the Amherst series.

Game 4 saw a scoreless first period after a Mariners goal was disallowed due to a high-sticking call.

Woodstock opened the scoring at 8:19 in the second period on a goal by Robert Visca to take a 1-0 lead.

Andrew Wigg, assisted by Ryan Nickerson and Jared Hicks, scored at 13:26 to tie the game at 1-1. Nick Huard (game winner), assisted by Andrew Langan and Visca, scored at 18:21 to regain the lead at 2-1 after the second period.

There was no third period scoring.

Woodstock went 0 for 1 on the powerplay while Yarmouth went 0 for 5. Yarmouth has struggled on the power play during this series, only going an overall two for 22.

Woodstock has gone, overall, two for 13 on the powerplay.

Matt Murphy stopped 31 of 32 shots for the win while Charles Grant stopped 21 of 23 shots in the loss.

In the first four games of the series Grant has only allowed seven goals on 138 Woodstock shots on net.

Series scores so far:

Game 1: Woodstock 2 – Yarmouth 1

Game 2: Yarmouth 4 – Woodstock 2

Game 3: Woodstock 1 – Yarmouth 0

Game 4: Woodstock 2 – Yarmouth 1

Game #5 of this series will take place on Friday April 13th. Game time is set for 7:30pm at the Carleton Civic Center in Woodstock.

Organizations: Mariners, Bent Division, Carleton Civic Center

Geographic location: Yarmouth, Amherst
