Community encouraged to vote for their favourite idea

YARMOUTH - It’s time to vote for your favourite idea for the Smart City Challenge.

Over the last three weeks, the Town of Yarmouth has invited the community to contribute to the Smart City Challenge with their ideas on what would change or improve the community.

The Smart City Challenge is a national competition initiated by Infrastructure Canada, with an application deadline of April 24.

As of Feb. 10, community members had submitted 18 ideas for the challenge. These ranged from recreation and active living, housing, transportation and technology applications to quality of life.

Staff reviewed the ideas and identified those that met the challenge statement and the Smart City criteria.   The shortlisted ideas have been be posted online and can be viewed at town hall.

The community will be encouraged to vote for their favourite idea. The winning idea will form the basis of the application which town staff will submit to Infrastructure Canada for the Smart City Challenge.
