YARMOUTH COUNTY - It's difficult to determine exactly how much snow the Yarmouth area has received to date from a slow moving weather system that began late Feb. 12.

Approximately 20 cms of fresh snow has fallen but there has been significant drifting from high winds. Gusts as high as 118 kilometres per hour were recorded in Port Maitland.

As of 4 p.m. on Monday, Environment Canada is continuing the blizzard warning with very strong east to northeast winds forecast. Gusts between 90 and 110 km/h are expected or occurring, which will give extensive blowing snow with frequent whiteout conditions.

Total snowfall amounts by Tuesday morning could range from 30 to 60 cm for the western portions of the province.

Several power outages were reported in Yarmouth County due to high winds and snow.
