Organizer Christopher Lockyer says they are delighted with registrations.

“We have a better turnout than last year,” he said.

Close to 80 kayakers, plus 36 coaches, will be fanning out from the central location - Ye Olde Argyler Lodge - to sessions in Cape Forchu, Lobster Bay in Argyle, Tusket Island as well as Cape Sable Island.

The coaches, from all over North America, Germany and the UK, will be teaching classes on proficient paddling, intro to currents, rough water confidence, sea kayak surfing, rock hopping and much more.

The public is invited to Ye Olde Argyler for free special guest presentations on Sunday, starting at 7:30 p.m. Each presentation will last 20-30 minutes.

Following are brief descriptions:

In 2014 James Manke competed in the National Greenland Rolling Competition and returned to Canada with a gold metal.  Manke will share his experience of attending the championships with fellow Canadian paddler, James Roberts.

The two Canadians came to Greenland with newly built, traditional skin-on-frame kayaks and donated them to the community children.

Manke will share his experience of taking part in the development of an award winning documentary called Greenland Bound that provides an inside look at the paddler’s experience while training, traveling and competing.

Earlier this year, Christopher Lockyer and Peter Bojanic led a group of paddlers along the Northern Penninsula in Newfoundland.

The Northern Penninsula is known for its remoteness as well as the numerous icebergs that can be seen floating in the coves and bays in the area during the summer.

The paddlers will share stunning pictures of the Newfoundland landscape and breathtaking icebergs that they encountered on their journey.  They will also share a few stories of their travels along this stretch of coastline.
