NEWELL, Charlene Ann – age 60, Evanston, Richmond Co., formerly of Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at home. Born April 25, 1958, she was a daughter to the late Gilbert and Mabel (Gallant) LeBlanc. Charlene was a stay-at-home mom until her kids went out on their own, after which she worked at Dairy Queen and then at Tim Horton’s where she worked for a number of years. Charlene’s passion was simple: spending time with John, her kids and her grandchildren, all of whom she was so proud of. But there was also another love in her life: her cats especially Mr. Cow. Charlene is survived by her loving husband John MacLean, as well as by her children, Monica Corporon (Julian Babin), Rhonda (Warren) Spinney and Matthew (Constance) LeBlanc, all of Yarmouth; Eion MacLean and Jamie MacLean, both of Evanston, as well as grandchildren, Gracie, Monica, Marlow, Memphis and Malaki. Also surviving is a brother, Rick (Lisa) Gallant, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Joyce Gallant, Lowell, Mass. and a large extended family in the United States whom she loved dearly. Aside from her parents, Gilbert and Mabel, she was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Newell; a grandson, Matthew and a brother, Robert Gallant. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where the funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Cremation followed and interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Charlene may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Yarmouth SPCA.
