Delmar Saulnier — Yarmouth

Delmar Saulnier
SAULNIER, Delmar George – age 95, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born March 15, 1923 in Wedgeport, he was a son to the late Joseph and Cassie (LeBlanc) Saulnier. Delmar spent most of his life at sea as a lobster fisherman, having also worked on the railroad, in the ice plant and raking Irish moss. Up until a few years back he still enjoyed hunting, playing cards and he still loved telling great stories. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6505 Wedgeport. He is survived by his devoted and caring sister, Betty Cottreau, as well as by his step-daughters, Lorena (George) Churchill and Elaine (Brian) Marks; 16 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren and 1 step-great-great granchild, as well as by many nieces and nephews who were all very close to their Uncle Delmar. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marcella (Robicheau) Hattie-Saulnier; a step-daughter, Jackie Muise; a step grandson; brothers, John, Louis and Ernest Saulnier; sisters, Betty in infancy, Theresa Doucette, Georgette Maillet and Alice Gillis. Visitation took place from 3-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 21 from Saint Michael’s Church, Wedgeport. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in memory of Delmar may be made to Saint Michael’s Parish Cemetery Fund or to a charity of choice.
