Theresa O'Hanley

O’ Hanley, Theresa M. – age 92, of Melbourne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Melbourne, June 3, 1926, Theresa was the daughter of the late Norman and Margaret (Boudreau) Thibedeau and also was the last surviving member of her siblings. Theresa was an active parishioner and lay reader at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Melbourne. Theresa was the widow of the late Roy W. O’ Hanley, she is survived by step sons Charles and Peter O’ Hanley and many nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. She was predeceased by her sisters; Margaret, Mabel, Reta, Loretta, Helen, and Evelyn and her brothers; Herman, Stephen, and Bernard. For many years, Theresa was employed with Maritime Tel & Tel in Yarmouth. In 1967 during her employment with them, she was one of the few chosen to represent Canada at Expo 67 in Montreal. During this time she was promoted to the VIP quarters where she had the opportunity to meet royalty and dignitaries from all over the world. Upon her retirement she received a life-time membership in the Telecom Pioneers. She enjoyed barbershop singing for many years as a member of Harmony Inc and loved singing with her friends. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, crafts and decorating. A visitation took place on Wednesday, September 5th from 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel located at 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne on September 6th at 11:00 am., Father Pat O’Meara officiated. Following cremation, internment took place in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Donations in memory of Theresa may be made to a charity of choice.
