YARMOUTH – The Atom B Mariners, sponsored by Pink Star Barro, had a successful showing at the Western Valley Spartans Minor Hockey Tournament in Middleton over the Jan. 26-27 weekend by bringing home the championship banner.
In the first game Yarmouth defeated Dartmouth 2-1. Goals were scored by Parker LeBlanc and Jake Sanford. Assists were from Carter Amiro and Jake Sanford. In the second game, Yarmouth tied Western Valley 1-1. Crofton MacAlpine scored for the Mariners, with assists from Brooke Travis and Tyler Sutherland.
In the third, nail-biting game, Yarmouth tied with Clare-Digby 5-5. Mariners goals were scored by Dana Hill, Andre Hill (3) and Parker LeBlanc. Assists came from Mateo d'Entremont, Brody Goodwin, Crofton MacAlpine and Jake Sanford.
Clare-Digby goals came from Nicolas Doucet and Gordan Deal (4), with assists from Luke Dickie (3), Nicolas Doucet (2), and Gordan Deal.
In the championship game, Yarmouth defeated Clare-Digby 3-2. Scoring for the Mariners were Crofton MacAlpine, Lucas Cushing and Andre Hill, assisted by Zander Garron and Dana Hill.
Scoring for Clare-Digby were Nicolas Doucet and Nathaniel Deveau with assists from Gordan Deal and Gavin Elderkin.
Zander White was in net for all games for the Mariners.
Cohen Neil was in net for all games for Clare-Digby, whose other games included a 2-2 with Western Valley. Goal scorers in that game were Dylan Melanson and Gordan Deal, with assists from Nicolas Doucet and Cameron Belliveau.
Clare-Digby also had a 4-2 win over Dartmouth.
Goal scorers were Luke Dickie (2), Sabastian Robichaud and Gordan Deal with assists by Gordan Deal, Nicolas Doucet, Gavin Elderkin, Branden Nickerson and Nataniel Deveau.
As for the championship winners, this is the second gold medal win this season for the Pink Star Barro Atom B Mariners. The team’s first tournament win was the Jack Frost Tournament, which was held Dec. 27-28.
